How might we motivate and encourage young people to use the bins and put the correct rubbish in?

Customer / Problem

The customers we are aiming to serve are the younger generations because it is crucial for them to learn why putting their trash in the correct bin is essential. If younger children understand why this is important then slowly all people will understand and this will benefit the world in the future. 

What Is Your Solution?

Our solution is to connect scanners to the bins we already have in place at our school. These scanners will detect whether you are putting the correct rubbish in that certain bin or not. If it is the wrong type of rubbish being put in the wrong bins, the scanner will automatically alert the person/student by making a rapid beeping sound. When students put the correct rubbish in the right bin they are rewarded with green stamps, house points, or a credit added to their account on compass. Students can use this credit for the canteen.
